Experience the History, Adventure and Legends through Valley City, Kathryn, Fort Ransom and Lisbon
The Sheyenne River Valley National Scenic Byway stretches 63 miles along the breathtaking Sheyenne River Valley, from Baldhill Dam to Lisbon, on ancient Native American footpaths and pioneer wagon trails. The Byway was awared national designation in 2002.
In the spring, the air is perfumed with the scent of blooming lilacs, chokecherries, juneberries and wild plums. In the fall, the valley is especially scenic. The combination of green, golden yellows and deep reds is breathtaking. Midwest Living Magazine suggests traveling this roadway as a "Fall Color Drive".
